Eph 3:17-20: “so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
The generosity of God is linked to and is evidence of the love of God.
Probably the most important thing to know and believe in our heart about God is that He is our Father, and as such, our extravagant blessing is his greatest delight. That is something we just have to know deep on the inside. If he withholds anything from us, it is for a training and development purpose, with the end in mind that we should have even more in life than we would have if we never learned to focus, to delay gratification, to save, or to be disciplined.
There is a simple Scripture which states this: “Fear not, little flock, it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32)
It is hugely important for us to be assured of this deep on the inside. The Prodigal son as well as his older brother, both seemed to miss this important bit of knowledge about their father. One seemed to be completely unaware of this as he struggled with his consequences of his own profligate and disrespectful behavior. The other slaved away on the farm and never treated himself to a party. Only when circumstances revealed what was truly in their heart, and they were then confronted by Father, only then did they have a chance to update their understanding of their Father’s heart. Only then did they understand the nature of their Father’s love.
Prayer: Lord, help me to become truly aware of your love.
